Dear Parents,

The faculty and staff welcome you to Pontchartrain Elementary School. We are looking forward to establishing new relationships and positive learning opportunities during our 2009 - 2010 school year.

We invite you to help support our efforts for a successful school year by reviewing with your child the policies in the handbook. Together, we can help ensure a safe and caring school environment where all students have the opportunity to learn and grow. Please use the handbook as a reference throughout the year. I encourage you to become involved in your child's classroom and in our school activities. Parent involvement is a major contributor to student success. Ways that you can show your support of our school include:

• Joining the PTA and participating in their many activities,
• Communicating with the school and your child's teacher, and
• Volunteering your time at one or several of our school or classroom functions.

Each teacher's weekly overview will keep you informed of up-coming events.
The faculty and I are looking forward to working with all of you this school year. We strive to maintain good communication with parents and welcome your comments, questions, and involvement.
